I Love My Boobs!

One of my very best friends, Sam and I have decided to participate in Avon's Breast Cancer Foundation Walk next October in Charlotte! Thanks to her Mom and her friend we have been able to form a team. Today we got to kickstart our fundraising by wrapping gifts at Barnes & Noble. This is the first time I had ever done this, and boy was I surprised. The donations didn't total much, but there was a strange dynamic. Only men donated cash. The women just wanted us to wrap their gifts. The men also shared stories and were interested in our cause, one man told us he lost his mother at 13 to breast cancer. I will carry his story with me as we move forward.
We will be at the store again next week, maybe we will have a better turn out.

Ramblin on

Where oh where did this week go? Over the long weekend Hubby and I celebrated our birthdays and I have been smoke free for a year woohoo!!!!
Ok so now we are at the start of another weekend and Summer is knocking at the door. There were so many things that I had hoped to accomplish by now, but oh well heehee. Do you know how fun it is to say that. Oh Well! Over the weekend I hope to go get corn so I can start freezing it next week along with onions and sweet peppers. Last year I just cut and froze the peppers but someone told me to try blanching them so I may give that a try.
One more thing I would like to get done is my menu planning. This is all part of that living on the less hectic side. I have started taking inventory of what I have and what I would need to complete meals. This seems to be saving money and frustration. If anyone has any tips I would love to hear them.
This whole post looks like one big ramble. Oh well(heehee said it again)

We Were Jammin

I have always been a little bit intimidated by canning and making jam. Kudos to the women who do this it looks like a lot of hard work. I would be afraid of screwing it up. So you can imagine how excited I was when I read about Freezer Jam.
This was something I totally could do!
Mars and I went to work yesterday on our first batch of strawberry jam.
We had a lot of fun and kept thinking of all the different jams we could make. I guess I will be stocking up on the oh so cute little plastic containers and making room in the freezer.
There is a ton of information online and I found the supplies at Walmart. You could also check here http://www.freshpreserving.com/
What a sweet ending to a wonderful weekend!

Simply Beautiful

It is that time of year again, we have been working hard in the garden and as a reward our wing friends have been stopping by daily to dine and we have also been chosen to be the nursery for Momma Monarch's lil ones once again!

Living Simple

The last few months I have felt a change coming, not a bad change. A return of a feeling. That feeling of why in hell am I so stressed out about everything? So that's is no more negative energy, smile!
My new thought process is live simple. Why let all that crazy stuff clog up your head?
It has been fun learning new ways to stretch a dollar when it comes to feeding the family.
Oh and guess what House Beautiful isn't going to be by anytime soon for that photo shoot, so I think it is ok if my kitchen towels don't match the pot holders.

It feels good to be back! I have been cleaning up the garden and I can't wait to share a few pics.

Stay Simple!
